New VX Project

I just added a new project to the site. To find out more about the new project… Click on Vis-à-vis and it’s two new sections. The Characters section and the Synopsis. I hope you enjoy it, of course new updates will be coming soon as well so stay tuned. Oh, before I go I would like to mention that I dropped a newsletter section on the right hand side. Just drop your Name/Email and don’t forget to CONFIRM the subscription via checking your email. I have no clue where any of the visitors of this site come from and it seems many people forget about checking for updates unintentionally so this is just an option to stay informed.

I will not abuse the newsletter and flood your email box. I will only use it occasionally, perhaps monthly or bi-monthly. Thanks again folks!

 A long time has past…

Yet I still truck on carrying the will of the gamers… ;_;

Anyways hey what’s up folks it’s been a long time. I’ll admit that I haven’t worked on the project as much as I like but trust me I still do! I just prefer working and keeping everyone in the dark. I suppose I can update the blog with some media. Here is a W.I.P of the world map of Planet Cevelles.

Locations pop up as discovered and you can see a little cute path leading to each new destination as well. Also, check out the Media Section as I’ve added more screenshots as well.

I have plans to keep working on new maps and perhaps work on the galaxy map soon. New monster sets have been added as well. I know it might sound boring but I’m going to continue to add more characters/npc to the character section soon. I like to keep a track of all the characters!

 Schedule

Just thought I should mention where I have been. I’ve been enjoying my last few days weeks of summer enjoying the weather and what not. I took a small break from the project before classes resume for me in September. Most of the helpers are doing the same as well. Once things settle down expect plenty of more updates. I think things will move even faster since everything is much more routine in the school/work year and I’m working with fixed hours.

  New Title Screen

Replaced my old title screen with an updated title screen. I was fine with it but wanted to make an update, unfortunately, my photoshop wasn’t working! In any case I managed to make something I liked. Of course K-hos version was far more superior and thus I’ll be using his instead. Kudos to Nessiah for adding the new logo as well. I’ve made a few small updates to it but the original design is still hers.

I’ll most likely make another blog update sooner for one of the sections soon. Maybe a new map screen or some other graphics. We’re having a bit of problem of adding mouse control to the current trade system. Psy is looking into the issue however and I’ll keep you updated about that. I’m in the process of currently updating the old Hud and perhaps making it blue and spiffy . After that I’m going to replace the place holder graphics for the current Trade System. In between these I work on map design and setting up new areas and editting maps.  Let’s congradulate Mblack/Ensignia who basically almost ripped all of RS3 .

 Screens & Info

Thought I should just stop by and drop some screens. I would like to be a bit more active here and make more minor updates while preparing for larger updates. I would love to just blast some media updates but I rather refrain from doing that. Battle video is a priority for sure but in the mean time I would like to posts maps and other things instead. I just added a new page called SD Galaxy. This is where all information, maps, art, and more regarding the world (galaxy) of Solemn Drifter. I think it deserves it’s own section and so I created one. Right after some of the systems become more refine I will immediately jump to work on the galaxy map which is very mildly being worked on at the moment. The section is empty for now as it serves as a reminder for me to post in there. Here are some screens of Aubree Town, just one of the towns in SD. 

Be sure to check out the a Media Section as well as I always archive a different picture there from the ones I post here. I was working on a title screen for the project by my photoshop keeps crashing so I have to reinstall it. I think I should get a title screen up shortly though.

Hey folks, did you miss me? Well, just because I’m not posting stuff weekly doesn’t mean I’m not doing stuff! First off I would like to say that the Trade System is finally showing some promise as the code behind it has been worked on quite a bit. It will most likely be completed in the near future and I’m going to have to replace the placeholder graphics that Psy made. I would also like to say that the battle system is coming a long great. I’m still trying to figure out how to animate the monsters, I know one way but it’s awfully tedious. I actually can make a quick video showing some of what I done but I require a more suitable gui (system2 set). If anything, I’ll post it anyways if I can’t find/make one in the near future with placeholders. Ensignia is on a family trip, I don’t know if he returned yet but he dropped us off a few tilesets before he went… What nice guy.

Oh, and for the sake of an update, I added a new character (Fiona) to the Character Section. I also fixed the eyes of Robin as Nessiah mentioned they looked odd. Hope you’re happy Ness .

On a side note… I know I don’t mention other games much but make sure you pick up Ocean Dream’s Paradise Blue here if you haven’t done so already! Also, you should definitely DEFINITELY check out Rainbow Nightmare Short Stories at TFT’s dev blog. His latest project is looking really spiffy. I hope he gets all the videos he’s shown me up and running.

Please vote on the poll regarding the battle encounters. I still have mixed feelings on this but I’m leaning more on random encounters.

 I thought I’ll drop a post here since it’s been a week. Let’s see, Gh0st has implemented a lot of battle animations so far and is moving on to other things (animating the monsters). The battle is looking pretty good already from what I saw, I would post screens but he refuses to post any just yet. Ensignia has provided us with some more tileset as well. He’s going to be going on a family trip soon so things may slow down there but we’ll be working hard while he’s gone. I have not heard any news from Ghost about our coder Psy_Wombats. I may just get in contact with him myself so I can update the site with anything that we can. I think we’re at a stage where there just are not any worth while  updates (without revealing things too early).

There’s only one more playable character left for the character section. I want to get that up as soon as possible… After that the major NPCs will be posted as we progress into the game. I’ll leave you with a random map I’ve been working on. It most likely will not be used in the game though.

Hello everyone, I think I was enjoying the summer weather TOO much. I almost completely forgot about the site haha. In any case I won’t say why I was absent, I’ll just go ahead and jump into the updates I made on the site. I added 5 new screenshots in the SD Media section. I’ve added two new characters and themes (I’ve also added a theme for Garris who did not have one before…). I would also just like to make note that the two new characters I’ve added (Trinculo and Sasante) are the starting characters of the game.

Since we couldn’t decide on a design for the trade menu I said I’ll be posting we’ve decided to work with place holders until we come up with a more suitable design. My next goal is to add a few more screenshots as well as battle screenshots. Some gameplay video will definitely be possible in the near future as well.

This Week’s Schedule

I posted the information on what the week’s schedule will look like at the bottom. Here’s what the team members been doing:

Ghost:
- Implementing Battle Animations in the game’s database
- Working on the GUI of the Trade System… Lots of issue, working on verision 3!
- Editting a few of character sets to make them more appealing
- Adding new music compositions

The Illusionist
- Working on some of the game’s custom tilesets
- Editting a few facesets as some issues occured here recently
- Starting to map a few test areas out

Ensignia
-Has provided few tilesets rips already and added two more tilesets today.
-He’s working on completing a set for this week

Psy Wombats
-He’s kind of boggled with a few other projects which he is finishing up
-He’s waiting for the design of the Trade Menu so he can code it… Which I’ll hand him very soon

I will keep you guys updated with a few screens this week. I will post some battle screens (not the tactical battle, the normal battle), some screens of the trade menu, when it’s done graphically. Finally, if we get to finish some gameplay screens they’ll be posted as well. I’m already going to add two or maybe three new characters + themes in the character section. I have plan for a new section too that will go up this week. One last thing… The “Today’s Agenda” will only appear when there is some sort of mini update. It was really annoying me the way it was before so that’s the way it will be handled.
